Site Waste Management Plans Are Introduced

DEFRA has introduced Site Waste Management Plans which are a legal requirement in England for construction projects begun after April 6th 2008, worth over £300,000. A Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) provides a structure for waste delivery and disposal at all stages during a construction project and will typically identify who will be responsible for resource management, what types of waste will be generated, how the waste will be managed, which waste contractors will be used and how the quantity of waste will be measured.
