In order to support the application for the erection of a number of dwellings a desk study report was prepared by others, which proposed further intrusive works.
Once permission was granted Demeter Environmental were commissioned to liaise with the local authority to obtain agreement on the scope of the intrusive works, which comprised of a number of trial pits excavated across the site.
The assessment of the soil chemical data indicated that elevated levels of contamination were resent in site soils in the area of one of the proposed gardens.
Once the proposals had been accepted the Phase IIIa Implementation Plan was prepared to ensure all parties were aware of the methodology of the remediation and the information required to demonstrate the remediation had been undertaken.
The final site visit was undertaken in April 2014 to validate the placement of 600mm cover in the garden area of one of the plots.
The Phase II report can be accessed via the Dartford Borough Council planning portal.
