Synopsis:
In order to support the planning application for the site, a Phase I desk study report was prepared by Demeter Environmental Ltd.
The review of the historical maps indicated the site was developed prior the the first O.S. map for the area and was identified as a wireworks. By 1909 the site was occupied by a timber yard and wire works.
A number of potentially contamination land uses were identified in close proximity tot he site including a goods yard, infilled land and tanks.
The buildings had been demolished prior to the walkover survey, and the site was covered by demolition rubble/made ground as well as two stockpiled of demolition rubble.
Based on the site history and the sensitivity of the proposed development, a site investigation was proposed in the desk study report.
The memo accepting the desk study report can be accessed here and the desk study report here.
