In order to support the application for the residential development of land associated with a public house, Demeter Environmental were commissioned to prepare a desk study report for the site.

The site comprised of a two story barn building, car parking (eastern area) and a cleared parcel of land. The review of the historical and environmental data revealed the site was previously adjoined by an airfield and electricity substation as well as three landfills within 250m of the site.

The risks form the landfills could not be discounted in the qualitative risk assessment and the desk study proposed that gas protection measures should be incorporated into the building design.
