To support the application for the erection of 95 dwelling on Garstang Golf Club Demeter Environmental were commissioned to prepare a desk study report for the site.

The historical review did not identify any on site potential sources of contamination but did identify a depot and nursery on the eastern boundary of the site as well as a number of in-filled ponds within 250m of the site.

The walkover survey revealed a maintenance building on the site.

The report concluded that the area of the maintenance building had the potential to be impacted by elevated levels of contamination, and the adjoining depot and nursery had the potential to impact on site soils.  Based on this the proposed site investigation was limited to the maintenance are and the eastern boundary of the site.
