Erection of an Agricultural Workers Dwelling, Bollington, Cheshire
Case Study Reference: 10-11-03
Planning Authority: Cheshire East Council
As part of the application process the contaminated land officer land officer recommended the inclusion of the contaminated land planning conditions (the memo can be viewed here) as the site was a farm and due to the sensitive nature of the proposed development (residential).
Whilst the review of the historical maps did not identify any potential issues on the site, two excavations were identified 85m east and 235m south of the site. The excavations were inspected as part of the walkover survey and there was no evidence of in-fillings, hence were discounted as credible sources of contamination and the report concluded that no further assessment/works were warranted.
The report was accepted by the planing authority and the condition discharged.
