Erection of a Three Bedroom House, Rothwell, Kettering
Case Study Reference: 11-02-01
Planning Authority: Kettering Borough Council
Planning Reference: KET/2010/0119
Synopsis:
In order to demonstrate the site was ‘suitable for use’ a contaminated land planning condition was attached to the decision notice.
Demeter Environmental were commissioned to prepare the desk study report and after liaison with the local authority it became apparent that the site was in an area of naturally elevated levels of contamination and samples taken during the walkover survey were analysed and elevated levels of vanadium were recorded.
In order to obtain further information to sufficiently characterise the site, further sampling was undertaken, which demonstrated that the natural site soils did not pose a risk to human health.
The memo discharging the contaminated land planning condition (Approval of Conditions No2) can be accessed on the Kettering Council Planning Portal.
