Conversion of Redundant Barns to Dwellings, Prestbury Road, Macclesfield

Case Study Reference: 12-10-04

Planning Authority: Cheshire East Council

Planning Reference: 10/2600M and 15/0990D

Synopsis:

Due to the sensitive nature of the development and the potential for storage of chemicals etc, a desk study report was required to assess the potential risks to the proposed end users.

The walkover survey revealed that the majority of the building were used for livestock and there was no evidence of any chemical storage in the buildings. Off site potential sources of ground gas were also discounted as part of the qualitative risk assessment.

As the site was covered by hard-standing it was not possible o discount the potential for made ground to be present on the site, and as the risk form the made ground was low, the placement of a cover system on any garden areas was proposed in lieu of site investigation.

The desk study report can be accessed from here, and confirmation the desk study report was accepted here.
