Conversion of a Drinking Establishment to a Dwelling, Congleton, Cheshire

Synopsis:

Given the presence of a garden on the former drinking establishment and the neighbouring property being identified as a site for inspection under Part 2A, further works were required to support the application.

Based on initial liaison with the local authority a desk study report combined with sampling of the soils in the garden area was determined the most appropriate way forward.

As the desk study did not identify the potential for volatile hydrocarbons to be present, the areas of the site covered by buildings/hard-standing were discounted as credible sources.

IOn order to further assess the soils int he garden area three samples of the soils were taken using hand held trial pits, and whilst made ground was identified in the garden the chemical analysis indicated that the soils did not pose a risk to the end users of the site.
